Dark Nail Colors For Fall – Is it just me or is there something about your nails that makes them feel lumpy? Even though I don’t have time to get a full haircut or makeup, I love a new manicure. Especially during fall and winter, it’s great to experience all the deep, rich hues of the winter season.

I’m partial to OPI nail colors; I prefer a slightly thicker lacquer consistency. Plus, they have very cute names, don’t they? Here are five dark nail colors to try this fall and winter:

A really pretty deep brown with very subtle red highlights. I’ve had this color for over ten years, so much so that I bought several bottles in case it runs out. The gold flakes really add a nice touch with a dark color.

What Polish To Wear This Fall!

A super intense bluish red that looks great on many skin tones. I especially like women with very pale skin, very pretty and elegant with clean and short nails.

From this fall’s Peru collection, I’ve been repeating this brown check all fall. It looks great on any skin tone and is a really rich and beautiful shade for the winter months.

An intense shade (it almost looks black on the nails) for the days when you feel like you want that super chic, super dark nail. There’s something very beautiful about this guy, and it’s something I came back to many years ago.

A dull reddish brown. It looks very beautiful on women with medium to pale skin tone. I’ve been wearing this color a lot during the fall and holiday season. It’s a great option when you’re looking for a red that doesn’t look like that.

ULTA: Ulta carries a variety of brands, but my tried and true favorites are Essie and OPI. Essie is a brightener, while OPI is a dye, so you’ll notice a difference in consistency right away. Essie Gel Topcoat remains my favorite topcoat after trying a variety of different options including Olive & June and Seche Vite.

Amazon – Honestly, Amazon has the most options and the fastest shipping. It is definitely a great option to buy online. They often have colors that I can’t even find in stores.

Sephora: Sephora carries high-end brands like Deborah Lipmann. Purchases here also add to Beauty Insider points. This is a great option for purchasing nail polishes and giving them as gifts, either in full or individually as party favors or stickers.

While I was at my local Walgreens, I saw this dark, vampy shade called Nemesis from CoverGirls’ Outlast Stay Brilliant nail polish line. I have a ton of dark polishes, I think each one is unique! – but this one had enough purple undertones to make it look more unique than many of my other darker shades, with a black, brown or red base. And at $6.50 a bottle, it was worth a try.

CoverGirl claims that this polish contains a base coat, pigment, and top coat in one bottle, so no additional products are needed. Customer feedback indicates that the polish has a lot of wear, which I especially like – on the third day, I usually sand or repaint my nails because I no longer like the look of them.

My first impressions of the polish? It’s a fantastic color at a great price; Both are around the corner. And as a smoothie to package this bottle is beautiful. The bottle immediately struck me as very similar to Chanel’s Le Vernis nails, but at a fraction of Chanel’s retail price of $28.

When applying the polish, I was surprised by the thickness of the formula. At first it was difficult to get the thin layers you want to paint with but I finally got it. I was worried about flaking or a long dry time, but as I mentioned in my manicure supplies post, the Seche Vite top coat creates a sheen of color and dries everything quickly and also eliminates the grain look in the polish. I got full opacity in two coats.

Overall, I’m happy with the polish. It took some work, but it applied beautifully once I figured out how to work with it. I’m finally looking for great colors and finding that the right base and top coats will allow me to work with almost any formula and apply it well. I will continue to test the polish to see how it wears throughout the week as I am looking forward to purchasing more polish from this range.
